Wrapping Up My 2021 Stitch People Ornaments
After starting my journey stitching family portrait ornaments last year, I’m excited to look back at what an amazing experience it turned out to be! If you missed my previous post, you can check it out here, where I first shared some completed pieces as they were delivered.
In total, I stitched 16 unique ornaments for families in 2021—two of which came in after Christmas from people who were thrilled by the work I’d shared! Each ornament captured family moments in a custom, cross-stitched portrait, making it a really personal keepsake.
Learning Curves & Highlights
Embarking on this project as a first-timer was a big undertaking! I learned so much about balancing my time, especially as the holidays approached. Managing multiple pieces with different families, pets, and design elements meant there was always something new to stitch! Despite a few scheduling challenges, I was proud to have all the ornaments completed on time.
Here are the final stats for my 2021 ornaments:
- I stitched 26 adults, 19 kids, 7 dogs, 3 cats, and 1 chicken (squee!)
- Nine ornaments finished in a 3" hoop and seven in a 4" hoop

Looking Ahead to 2022
I’m thrilled to keep the tradition going in 2022 and am already planning new designs to make each piece extra special. If you missed out last year, I hope you’ll consider ordering an ornament in the future—I’d love to stitch one for your family and add a personal touch to your holiday decor!
Thank you to everyone who trusted me with your family portraits last year. I can’t wait to see what 2022 brings and to keep creating these wonderful keepsakes for you!
