2,000 Giveaway Winner
Mid-way through December, I did a giveaway on Instagram to celebrate hitting 2,000 followers (which as of writing, is less than half what I have now - lulwut!). The winner this time around asked me if I would be willing to stitch her and her husband on their wedding day instead of her family as they are now.
I'm a sucker for a wedding stitch people portrait so of course, I said yes!
The piece itself
It might look simple, but there is a lot of fine detailing in this piece! I highly recommend you check out the embedded Instagram reel for extra details that still images just cannot pick up.
The part I really like about this piece is the bubbles that surround the couple. I umm'd and ahh'd about this a fair bit on how I wanted them to be stitched as I wanted to avoid the obvious; french knots. At least that seemed the most obvious to me!
The bubbles are done using a light-effect DMC thread and a tightly wound buttonhole stitch. Some of them may have looked a little angular (thanks mostly to the floss itself being very ridged and stubborn to work with) but they are so subtle that you would only notice something like that if you looked at it super closely.
