2022-23 teacher, paraeducator & therapist gifts
If you don't know; this past week in America it was teacher appreciation week.
Teacher Appreciation Week is a celebration dedicated to honoring the exceptional contributions of educators. During this special week -which typically falls in early May- educators are recognized and acknowledged for their tireless efforts, unwavering dedication, and invaluable impact on students' lives. Because it is about people who help educate, I believe it also includes my kiddos paraeducators (teachers assistants in my daughters special needs class for example) and pediatric therapists (as of writing, we just have my daughter's speech therapist as there is a serious shortage of pediatric therapists in the country..!). So I stitch for them, too.
This year was no different from the past 4 years; I made stitch people portrait gifts for the women that are in my kids' team to develop, learn and grow.
I have no idea what I will do for the majority of these people next year; whether I stitch for them again or whatnot, but that's a problem for future-Kate.

It's a big under taking, honestly. This year I had seven portraits to stitch. I decided from the beginning that, knowing how my mental health was at the time (aka: not that crash hot - check out the upcoming FlossTube #49 for a little more information on that) I would give myself grace and help, by only doing busts and not full-length portraits.
I'm glad I did. I would've been fine, but it gave me so much breathing room that I then appreciated, so I'm very glad for that.

If you are thinking about ordering a portrait similar to this style, I encourage you to get in touch. Later on in the year I will be opening up holiday ornament orders but if you're looking to get something done outside the holidays, I can always help out!
Cross-stitch and embroidery (but especially cross-stitch) is not a fast hobby. I've done a lot of posts over on Instagram about this if you're interested but basically, it is slow.
