A Tradition of Gratitude
There is a specific kind of rhythm to the school year, isn't there? Just as the seasons start to shift, we hit that wonderful week dedicated to the humans who help our children grow every single day. Teacher Appreciation Week is a big deal in our house, and over the last few years, it has become a tradition for me to create something small and handmade to say thank you.
The "Final Hour" Realisation
I'll be the first to admit that even with the best of intentions, life sometimes moves faster than my needle. I had a sudden, slightly panicked realisation that the week was upon us and I hadn't even started! In what felt like the "final hour," I gathered my hoops and floss to get these finished in time. There's something about a looming deadline that really focuses the mind, and honestly, the "done is better than perfect" mantra was my best friend during this late-night stitching session.
Capturing the Details
This year, I went with my signature "mini" Stitch People style. For Mrs Brennemann and Alex, I focused on those soft, earthy tones, while for Mrs Chambers and Charlie, I leaned into those classic denim and dark-haired details. Even at this tiny scale, I love how much personality you can pack into a few simple stitches. Using my own "TLK" fonts for the names and years always gives them that crisp, professional finish that makes them feel like a proper heirloom.
A Meaningful Keepsake
Despite the last-minute rush, I am so glad I made the time for these. Seeing the teachers' faces when they receive a custom portrait is such a joy—it's a small way to show them that their hard work is seen and appreciated. If you're looking for a unique way to celebrate a special teacher, a mentor, or a loved one, I'd love to help you bring that vision to life.
