I like news!
I wanted to share something a little off-topic today. I hope you don't mind and that you'll indulge me.
Today is my birthday and I wanted to celebrate with some news I got about 3 months ago that I haven't openly shared here yet in hopes I can continue the smashing of some stigmas and taboos.
You might've noticed that I have quietly shared this information on my website, if you've got eagle eyes, that is. In the lower part of each news post, I changed the description down there mentioning it. Go on, take a look!
At 34yo;
I was finally diagnosed with having ADHD.
I have struggled my entire life -from what I can recall- with feeling lazy, unable to overcome simple mental and physical hurdles and making more than only a small handful of meaningful relationships. There's so> much more than just this but it would take a week to list it all.
I am proud to be neurodivergent. I have had to come up with ways to get myself doing things someone who is neuro-typical would have zero issues with. I have had to dig deep to find things that give me my required dopamine hit. I have found ways to trick myself into refocusing and staying attentive and getting tasks done.
ADHD presents so differently in girls than it does in boys and I am so happy to be seeing -and even know of- lots of ladies who are also recently finding out they have the same diagnosis. We have all struggled in silence behind our masking.
If you feel like you might be neurodivergent, I highly encourage you to seek professional help. And if you are brushed off, find someone else who will listen to you. Since changing my medication after being diagnosed, life has gotten so much clearer. 🥰
