Let's find out more about me; the creator!
I asked a question over on my Instagram page a little while ago, seeking interesting questions I should ask my mum in an informal 'interview' ( coming soon!) that people might find interesting to know the answers to.
One response I got was from someone who suggested I find the series of questions known as " Know Your Needleworker Tag". So I looked it up and it was a reference to someone's Blogger website from way back in 2015 of a series of 10 random questions, as a way to get to know someone.
It didn't fit what I had in mind with asking my mum specifically, but I did think it might be a good idea for a post I could write about myself! I haven't introduced myself in quite a while -which, in hindsight, feels like something I should do maybe once a year or so..?- so let's get to the questions!

Where do you live?
I currently live in western-Washington State in the United States, about 45 minutes away from Seattle. However, I've also lived closer to Seattle (about 20min closer, for those playing at home!) as well as in various places within Southern-California, since my little family and I moved to the USA. Prior to that, I was born, raised and lived in Australia.

What do you do for a living?
That's an easy one — I don't!
Technically; I am a SAHM to my two daughters (currently 8yo and 6yo) so I guess I am a personal assistant to two smaller versions of myself..?
In a previous life (*cough* before we moved to the USA *cough cough*) I was a freelance web designer & front-end developer where I set my own hours, approved projects I wanted to work on and juggled it while being a SAHM — just to my oldest, at the time, since my youngest wasn't born yet!

Do you have any children?
Yes! As mentioned, I have two daughters; Charlie aged 8 and Alex aged 6. I adore them both so much and the majority of my days are spent doing things either for them or to assist them. Especially my oldest, whom is considered intellectually disabled.

Do you have any pets?
We do! At the time of writing, we have two cats we rescued: Zoe & Milo.
Zoe is a 5yo American Shorthair who I would not be surprised if she had a really rough initial start to life before we brought her into our family so that, coupled with growing up around my then-toddlers means she is a zero-tolerance cat who would prefer to be completely left alone to sleep all day. She's a bitch but we love her.
Milo on the other hand, is a 3yo [suspected] Siamese x Snowshoe who adores me as I am his chosen human. As I am writing this, he is trying to traverse the chaos of my desk clutter to find a spot in my lap. He is chatty, loves to flop over my left shoulder and loves getting his belly rubbed.

What are your other hobbies besides stitching?
When I was a teenager, I took up Taekwondo for a little under a year. I don't really recall why, but I stopped doing it abruptly and pretty much ever since I can recall, I have wanted to take up some form of martial arts again. My memories of it made me feel powerful, in control and obviously, it's an excellent way to stay in shape.
So earlier this year, after waiting patiently for my broken toe to heal (long story: it still hasn't) I decided to stop waiting for myself to get a "little bit more in shape beforehand" and just do it. And I love it!Other than that and needlepoint, I also enjoy playing video games (currently most of the ones I play are on the Nintendo Switch) as well as watching TV. I am hoping to get back into walking once I am healed from my upcoming foot surgery.

What is your favorite movie?
I found this really hard to choose just one movie as I have a wide variety of likes in genres. But if I had to choose just one as a top-favourite, it would probably be Thor: Ragnarok. Which reminds me, that I really want to watch that again soon…
But I am definitely a sucker for a lot of the MCU.For the longest time, it was a toss-up between Robin Hood: Men in Tightsor Hook. The former I loved watching alongside my older brother, where we would recite it line-for-line from heart. The latter I can only guess at the number of times I watched the VHS copy we had.

What is your favorite tv show?
Hands down: Firefly . It has been over 20 years since the show was unjustly cancelled, halfway through its first season and I am still not over it. 😭
Other shows I have really enjoyed are actually not too difficult to work out, as they are sampler patterns (or planned ones..! Spoilers!):
- The Office
- Schitts Creek
- Sherlock
- The Umbrella Academy
- Arrested Development
…just to name a few.

What is your favorite book?
I'm going to include audiobooks as I basically don't set aside time to read a physical book (if I'm going to sit still and have my hands available to do stuff, it'll be stitching).
My favourite book I've listened to lately has been Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. It's written by a therapist, who talks about her practice, the people she sees (in an anonymous way) and her own therapy. It's very funny, but also very poignant and also helped me out a bit when it came to my own individual therapy.

What is you favorite music?
I have found myself listening to a lot of what I guess now would be considered "old" music. Basically; top hits from the 70s through to the 00s.
I enjoy some music that is released nowadays but I have absolutely hit the age where I kind of don't get some music that is released currently. So I fall back to familiar songs that I grew up enjoying, all the while grumbling when I hear covers of said songs.
Something something, 'get off my lawn'… 😵 -
What one word best describes you?
Does anyone actually know how to answer this sort of question? Because I sure don't. And I don't think I have ever been able to.
Some words that describe me: passionate, caring, flustered, tired, stubborn and chaotic. And I don't necessarily take some of those in a negative way - they are just who I am as a person.
Of course, then there are the literal one-word-adjectives, such as mum, woman, neurodivergent, depressed and uncomfortable. That last one is a physical uncomfortableness in my own skin. But I digress.
Anyway! I hope that has been an interesting way to learn some potentially new things about myself! Thanks to Tricia over at her somewhat neglected blog, "Realm of Randomness". The original post can be found here: Know Your Needleworker Tag. Maybe you would like to answer these questions yourself (either on your own website/blog or in a social post!)..? If you do, tag me or send the link my way! I'd love to give it a read.
