Flower Prairie — A DIY Flower Stitching Adventure

The Final Design in the DIY Flower Series

"Flower Prairie" is the third and final pattern in this DIY flower collection, following Flower Field and Flower Meadow. It's designed to feel expansive and calm — a wide, open landscape of stitching that slowly comes to life over time. Whether you've stitched the earlier designs or are discovering the series for the first time, "Flower Prairie" offers a peaceful, satisfying way to bring a growing floral scene to your hoop.

20 Custom Flower Designs & 20 Harmonious DMC Colours

This pattern includes 20 unique flower motifs, each thoughtfully designed to work beautifully with a curated palette of 20 DMC colours. The colours are intentionally harmonious, meaning every combination feels cohesive and pleasing, even when chosen at random. No overthinking, no second-guessing — just joyful, confidence-boosting stitching.

A Randomised Stitching Concept Using Dice

At the heart of "Flower Prairie" is its simple, playful concept: roll two 20-sided dice to determine which flower you'll stitch and which colour you'll use. Each roll brings a small moment of surprise, helping you let go of perfectionism and enjoy the process. Stitch one flower at a time and watch your prairie grow in unexpected, delightful ways.

A Slow, Mindful Long-Term Stitching Project

"Flower Prairie" is designed to fit gently into real life. Stitch a flower a day, a week, or whenever you have a few quiet minutes. It works beautifully as a monthly or year-long project, making it ideal for busy schedules, fluctuating energy, or anyone looking for a calming creative ritual that doesn't demand constant focus.

Combine with Flower Field & Flower Meadow

This pattern can be stitched entirely on its own or combined and intermingled with Flower Field and/or Flower Meadow. Choose your favourite flower designs, mix colour palettes, or blend all three patterns together to create a truly personalised floral landscape. There's no "right" way to do it — only the joy of watching something uniquely yours take shape.

Embark on this enchanting stitching adventure with "Flower Prairie" and let your creativity flourish. Start your year with a burst of colour and imagination, and watch your fabric come to life, one beautiful stitch at a time.

FAQs (Some frequently asked questions:)

What are the dimensions of the pattern?

There isn't a definitive width and height to this pattern, as it is truly random. The finished size depends on a few factors:

  1. Your fabric count,
  2. How long you decide to stitch for ( eg: 1 month, 1 year, a pregnancy term, etc ) and
  3. What you randomly roll!

So that's a hard one to answer.

Do I have to use a D20? I only have a 6-sided dice.

No, of course not! However, you can use any online dice rolling feature (such as Google's virtual dice) if you don't mind that.

If you would rather use a 6-sided dice, however, I recommend the following:

  1. Removing four of your least favourite flower patterns and numbering the remaining flowers 3-18.
  2. Rolling the D6 three times and totalling the numbers together. This will give you a number between 3-18.
  3. Doing the same with the colours (Ideally 4 of the same hue)

This won't be as truly random as rolling a D20 but it's just an idea!
